Brooklyn Nets point guard Jeremy Lin underwent successful surgery to repair a ruptured patella tendon in his right knee, the team announced Friday.

The team said Thursday that Lin will miss the remainder of the 2017-18 season. On Friday, the Nets added he is expected to make a full recovery.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Riley Williams III at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York on Friday morning.

Lin was injured in Wednesday night's season opener against the Indiana Pacers when he landed awkwardly on a drive to the basket during the fourth quarter of the Nets' 140-131 road loss. He crumbled to the court and limped back to the locker room under his own power after initially being assisted.

The 29-year-old Lin posted a photo with Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson on his Twitter account Friday afternoon. In the photo, Lin's right knee is shown wrapped and in a brace.

"THANKS for all the love and support!! Blown away at everyones kindness. My hats too swaggy lol," Lin tweeted.

Before exiting Wednesday's game, Lin totaled 18 points and four assists in 25 minutes. He played his first season with the Nets in 2016-17 after signing a three-year, $36 million contract, appearing in just 36 games (33 starts) due to a variety of injuries. He averaged 14.5 points and 5.1 assists last season.
