The procedure, which lasted 90 minutes, was performed by Dr. Charles Jordan and Heat team physician Dr. Harlan Selesnick at Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute at Doctors Hospital.

McGruder appeared in five preseason games with the Heat and averaged 7.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists. The former Kansas State standout joined Miami for Summer League before signing a three-year, partially guaranteed contract on July 7.

He was ruled out indefinitely on Oct. 12 after being diagnosed with the injury.

McGruder averaged 6.4 points in 78 games (65 starts) last season in his first NBA campaign.

Miami opens its regular season schedule at the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night.
