Minnesota Timberwolves exercise options on Karl-Anthony Towns, Tyus Jones

The Minnesota Timberwolves exercised the fourth-year options on center Karl-Anthony Towns and guard Tyus Jones, the team announced Sunday.

Towns, the top overall pick in the 2015 draft, averaged 25.1 points and 12.3 rebounds while starting all 82 games for the second straight season in 2016-17.

The 7-footer set a team single-season scoring record with 2,061 points and recorded 1,007 rebounds. He became the youngest player in NBA history to total at least 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a season, the 15th player overall and first since Tim Duncan in 2001-02.

Jones averaged 3.5 points and 2.6 assists in 12.9 minutes in 60 games last season. Jones was originally drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2015 and dealt to Minnesota on draft night.
