Atlanta Hawks guard Dennis Schroder arrested on battery charge

Atlanta Hawks guard Dennis Schroder was arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge in an Atlanta suburb on Friday after an early morning incident.

The 24-year-old Schroder was arrested in Brookhaven, Ga. He was released on bail later Friday.

The Hawks indicated they are aware of the incident.

"We are aware of an incident involving Dennis Schroder earlier this morning," the team said in a statement. "We are still gathering information as it pertains to the situation, and out of respect for the legal process, we will have no further comment at this time."

Schroder is entering his fifth season with Atlanta. He averaged career-highs of 17.9 points and 6.3 assists last season.
