Philadelphia 76ers miss seven straight shots in practice drill

Sept. 27 (UPI) -- The ball was allergic to the net recently during a Philadelphia 76ers shooting drill.

Philadelphia lined up for the drill Tuesday at its training complex in Camden, N.J.

Justin Anderson, Robert Covington and J.J. Redick took part in the drill, missing seven consecutive shot attempts. The shots included one 3-pointer, three jump shots and three layups.

Redick was 0-for-2 during the drills, missing a 3-pointer and a layup. Covington. Covington was also 0-for-2, while Anderson bricked all three of his attempts.

Redick agreed to a one-year, $23 million contract with Philadelphia in July. He has made nearly 43 percent of his career 3-point attempts. Covington, 26, is entering his fourth season with the franchise. He started a career-high 67 games last season and made 39 percent of his shots from the flood. Anderson joined the Sixers in February after a trade with the Dallas Mavericks. He made 46 percent of his shots and averaged 14.1 points per game in 24 contests last season for Philadelphia.

But fear not Sixers fans, there were still plenty of made baskets, including a barrage of 3-pointers from power forward Dario Saric.

The Sixers begin the 2017 regular season with a road game against the Washington Wizards at 7 p.m. on Oct. 18 at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. Philadelphia's first preseason game is at 7 p.m. Oct. 4 against the Memphis Grizzlies at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
