Klay Thompson: Golden State Warriors star balls out with two dogs

By Alex Butler

Aug. 31 (UPI) -- The Cleveland Cavaliers might want to consider adding a Labrador to their defensive rotation after watching one lock down Klay Thompson.

Thompson recently laced up in the Los Angeles Lakers' practice facility for some shooting exercises.

ESPN's Tim MacMahon posted some videos of the action.

Two dogs joined in the fun with the Golden State Warriors sharpshooter. One appears to be a black Labrador while the other looked like a yellow Labrador. Despite Thompson standing at 6-foot-7, 215 pounds and the dogs likely standing at shorter than two feet, the canines held their own.

Well, at least one of them did.

Thompson took some dribbles before the black Labrador became disinterested and starting tracking a scent on the sideline. But the yellow Labrador was all about the one-on-one battle. The dog tracked Thompson behind the 3-point line, coming up on two legs several times and barking. Thompson eventually settled for a tough 3-pointer and clanked it off of the rim.

MacMahon noted that Thompson shot 50 percent against the dog.

Thompson has an English bulldog named Rocco. The 27-year-old averaged a career-high 22.3 points last season for the Warriors. Thompson is a three-time All-Star, two-time All-NBA selection and two-time NBA Finals champion.
