Golden State Warriors' Kevin Durant talks LeBron James departure from Cleveland Cavaliers

Aug. 17 (UPI) -- NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant doesn't think the Cleveland Cavaliers can trade LeBron James.

The Golden State Warriors superstar was on Twitter Wednesday talking about James' possible departure.

Rapper Lil Dicky began the discussion.

"If I'm Cleveland, I'm one thousand percent trading LeBron," the rapper tweeted.

"U can't trade a legend. He is Cleveland, he gets to hold the cards," Durant responded.

"He did it, they won," Lil Dicky responded. "If I'm him I despise Gilbert for a variety of reasons. If I'm Gilbert, I'm getting something back this time. He's gone."

"I feel what you're saying," Durant wrote. "Most owners think that way, but then you realize it's LeBron James."

"I know, not easy. His love for Cleveland got them 1 but his warranted disdain for ownership is gonna cost them another. So I blow it up b4 he does," Lil Dicky responded.

"Last time he left they got like 3 number one picks. So either way they are good lol," Durant responded.

James, 32, is due $33.2 million next season. He has a $35.6 million player option in 2018. He would have to waive his no-trade clause in order to be moved before the 2018 season.

A report surfaced Wednesday where a source said James is "100 percent leaving" Cleveland. Three sources close to James disputed that report, telling Cleveland.com that the report was "100 percent false."

"LeBron remains deeply committed to this organization," Cavaliers general manager Koby Altman told reporters in July, according to Cleveland.com. "He remains deeply committed to this team, and deeply committed to this city. It means a lot for him to be here and compete for championships for years to come."

James left Cleveland for the Miami Heat during the 2010 offseason. That year, the Cavaliers went from a 61-win team to a 19-win team. Cleveland would go on to attain three No. 1 overall picks before James' return in 2014.
