Guard Gerald Henderson was one of the top free agents still available until ESPN reported Wednesday that he will undergo hip surgery that may sideline him for the entire 2017-18 season.

Henderson, 29, decided to have surgery on a hip that given him trouble since he tore his left labrum in 2011.

Henderson had two operations on his hip previously -- one in 2011 to repair the torn labrum and another in 2015 when excessive bone and tissue was shaved away.

However, Henderson continued to have problems while playing for the Philadelphia 76ers this past season.

Henderson, a strong defensive player, averaged 9.2 points in 72 games, including 41 starts, in 2016-17 for the Sixers. Philadelphia waived Henderson in June before he was due to earn $9.2 million in a team option for 2017-18.
