NBA: Orlando Magic waive guard C.J. Watson

The Orlando Magic waived guard C.J. Watson, the team announced on Monday.

The Magic had to decide whether to guarantee his $5 million salary for the final season of his contract, or pay him $1 million to buy out the final year.

The 6-foot-2 Watson appeared in 62 games, including nine starts, for the Magic last season. He averaged 4.5 points, 1.8 assists and 16.3 minutes per game.

Watson, 33, has played in 600 NBA games and averaged 7.2 points and 1.5 assists.

Orlando's top guards include Elfrid Payton, D.J. Augustin and Shelvin Mack.
