The LaVar Ball/Philadelphia 76ers feud continues after Big Baller comments

June 30 (UPI) -- Boisterous basketball dad LaVar Ball responded to Philadelphia 76ers players this week after Joel Embiid asked Ben Simmons to dunk on his son.

Ball went on 97.5 The Fanatic on Thursday to discuss his son, Lonzo Ball. Lonzo was selected on June 22 as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He'll suit up for the Los Angeles Lakers.

After being picked up by the Lakers, Embiid responded to a tweet from teammate Ben Simmons.

Simmons tweeted a simple message: "Crazy pills."

Embiid quoted the tweet and asked Simmons to dunk on the rookie.

"Please dunk on him so hard that his daddy runs on the court to save him," he tweeted.

Two days later, Simmons posted a video to his Instagram account showing off his dunking ability.

LaVar responded while talking to Rob Ellis and Geoff Mosher on the radio show.

"When you don't win, and don't even make the playoffs, and don't even stay on the court long enough, that's the best thing you can do ... is tweet and make some stuff," Ball said.

"Ain't nobody else doing that, because they're working on their games in the gym," he said.

The Sixers haven't made the playoffs since the 2011 season. Philadelphia has lost at least 54 games in every season since 2013. The franchise lost 72 games in 2015, but won 18 more games last season.

Los Angeles (26-56) actually finished the 2016 season with a worse record than Philadelphia (28-54).

"These guys ain't played a game, [are] always hurt, and at the bottom of the totem pole," Ball said. "So guess what? Get your [butts] off the damn Tweeter, and get in the gym."

While Lonzo Ball has yet to lace up and play in an NBA arena as a pro, he does already have his own signature shoe. He also has super-high expectations from Lakers president Magic Johnson.

Last week, Johnson called Ball the "new face of the Lakers."

"I'm going to put a little pressure on you right now," Johnson said to Ball. "You look to your right, there's some jerseys hanging on that wall. We expect a Ball jersey hanging up there one day, all right? Good."

The Ball family recently appeared on WWE's Monday Night Raw, where LaVar ripped off his shirt to confront The Miz.

Lonzo was introduced to a raucous crowd during his first experience walking into a jam-packed Staples Center as a member of the Lakers.
