Utah Jazz point guard George Hill will miss Thursday night's game against the Golden State Warriors due to soreness in his left big toe, the team announced.

Hill struggled in Utah's Game 1 loss of the Western Conference semifinal series. He scored seven points in 28 minutes after averaging 16.9 points during the regular season.

All-Star forward Gordon Hayward was dismayed over Hill's plight as the Jazz attempt to even the best-of-seven series.

"It's very frustrating that he can't play tonight," Hayward told reporters at the team's shootaround. "But at the same time, it is what it is, and we've got to try to move on and step up."

Shelvin Mack figures to see increased playing time at the point with Hill sidelined.

Injuries limited Hill to 49 regular-season games so the scenario is a familiar with one for the Jazz.

"Somebody else has to step up, and they're definitely capable of doing it," Hayward said. "They've done it all year. It's definitely going to be more difficult in the playoffs against a great team. ...

"The experiences they got from the season when George was out will help them out."
