He also knows exactly who is saying it. Jefferson spoke to FOX Sports Ohio Wednesday, before the Cavaliers battle the Boston Celtics for NBA Eastern Conference supremacy. During the interview, Jefferson spoke about the contest and the late-season pressures on the Cavaliers.
"It'll be a fun game," Jefferson said. "But it's not one of those ones. All the talking heads will be like, the Cavs are back or Boston..."
"Ok so, ladies and gentleman, I want to say that in our locker room," Jefferson said. "You guys might have heard about it in the podcast Road Trippin'...shameless plug. We talk about talking heads. That's Stephen A. [Smith]. That's Skip Bayless. Those are the talking heads. Michael Wilbon. Some of them we love more than others but they are just the talking heads. They are guys that just get paid to have sports opinions. So the talking heads will say 'oh the Cavs are back.' Or, 'oh, Boston is going to be the'...It's one game. We take it as one game and we just continue with the rest of our season."
Superstar LeBron James echoed similar sentiment following the Cavaliers' Tuesday victory against the Orlando Magic. He was asked about the significance of the squad's matchup against the Celtics. The Celtics have an identical 50-27 record with the Cavaliers. Cleveland is 31-8 at home and 19-19 on the road, while Boston is 22-17 on the road.
"I don't know, I've played in a lot of big games," James told reporters. "I don't ... I'm the last person to ask about a big game in the regular season. I'm sorry."
"Taking nothing from them, they've been playing some great ball, but I'm not one to get caught up in the regular season. I'm sorry. I've been to six straight finals, man. I'm the last person to ask about a regular-season game, dude. Sorry."
"The Chosen One" is now 32-years-old and has logged 8,383 playoff minutes. James' 41,146 career minutes are No. 6 among active players and No. 29 in NBA history.
The Cavaliers were 3-0 in October, 10-3 in November, 12-4 in December, 7-8 in January, 9-2 in February, and 7-10 in March. James' crew is 2-0 so far in April.
