Feb. 24 (UPI) -- 'The Truth' hurts.
Pierce, who is playing in his 19th and final NBA season, is on a 'farewell tour' of sorts. But Green doesn't think the 10-time All-Star deserves to be sent off joyously at road arenas, like Kobe Bryant was last season.
Green started his trash talk early on the 39-year-old. With 11:19 left in the first quarter, Blake Griffin stepped to the line for free throws. Green barked at Pierce, who was sitting on the bench.
"Chasing that farewell tour. They don't love you like that...You thought you was Kobe."
Pierce is averaging a career-low 3.7 points per game in 13 contests this season. He did not log a single minute Thursday, while Green had seven points, six rebounds, and four assists.
The future Hall of Fame inductee fired a vicious blow at Green when he tweeted: "73 wins and u thought u was gonna win a title that yr. 3-1 lead oops."

Earlier this month, Michael Jordan also dissed the Warriors. Jordan told Warriors owner Joe Lacob that 73 wins "didn't mean [expletive]" while attending dinner during collective bargaining agreement negotiations.
Pierce's tweet was an obvious jab at the Warriors' demise last season to the Cleveland Cavaliers, after setting the NBA record for wins in a single season. During last season's NBA Finals, the Warriors earned a 3-1 lead before allowing LeBron James and Kyrie Irving to lead the Cavaliers to a comeback victory.
