Detroit Pistons open to trading Reggie Jackson

Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Point guard Reggie Jackson could soon be wearing the third different jersey of his NBA career.

According to ESPN's Zach Lowe, the Detroit Pistons could trade Jackson to one of several interested parties.

"Any [Andre] Drummond deal at the deadline is an extreme long shot, but Jackson remains in play for Minnesota, Orlando, New Orleans, or some mystery destination," Lowe wrote Wednesday.

Jackson, 26, is averaging 15 points and 5.6 assists per game this season. He averaged nine points, three rebounds, and three assists per game in four seasons for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Jackson was selected with the No. 24 pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. He played for the Tulsa 66ers in 2012 in the D-League before being traded to the Pistons in 2015. Jackson made $14 million last season and is on the books for $14.9 million this season. His salary shoots up to $18 million in 2019, before he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

The point guard returned to the Pistons in December after recovering from a knee injury. The Pistons held a players-only meeting upon his arrival to discuss transitioning from Ish Smith back to Jackson.

"The team meeting was really positive," Drummond told Rod Beard of the Detroit News. "There were no negatives that could have been said. We really needed to air out some situations where we all had the same common ground."

"We felt like there was a lot of tension because we just added Reggie back so we had to come to grips with the way he plays – it's not going to be the same type of style that Ish plays. We had to put it out there that Reggie demands the ball more than Ish does; we have to get used to playing the same way we used to play last year."

The Pistons [26-30] host the Dallas Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at The Palace.
