Michael Jordan to Golden State Warriors: '73 wins don't mean [expletive]'

Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Joe Lacob doesn't need a reminder of the Golden State Warriors' monumental blunder in the 2016 NBA Finals.

Especially not from the best basketball player of all time.

But when the Warriors owner and Michael Jordan got together for dinner during the collective bargaining agreement negotiations, 'His Airness' took flight.

"People were drinking, having a good time and all that. But there was a moment where [Jordan] said, 'You know, 73 don't mean [expletive]'" Lacob said Tuesday during an interview with San Francisco radio station 95.7 FM The Game. "He did it. Michael Jordan did that. And I looked at him, and I just decided not to, you know, make a big deal of it. I said, 'You know, you're right? We didn't win it. We had to get better.'"

"He's fantastic, and I'm not going to cross him. But that kind of hurt, you know?"

Jordan's 1995 Chicago Bulls team went 72-10 en route to an NBA Finals title. The Warriors went 73-9 last season before losing a 3-1 lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. Jordan is now the owner of the Charlotte Hornets.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr was teammates with Jordan for three NBA championships between the 1995 and 1997 seasons. Kerr also won title with the 1998 and 2002 San Antonio Spurs. Jordan won three rings from the 1990 through the 1992 seasons.
