Watch: 40-year-old Vince Carter performs 360 lay-up

Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Two decades of dunk face culminated in something the NBA has never seen before on Wednesday night at Memphis' FedExForum.

Vince Carter, 40, showed that he still has major game and major hops when he took flight in the Memphis Grizzlies' 101-99 win against the Toronto Raptors.

With 9:40 remaining in the second quarter, Carter took a pass near the elbow. He backed Terrence Ross toward the basket, before spinning off of his back. He exploded toward the rim, and turned his back to the basket, gliding under the iron and returning to the forward position while putting the ball in the net over an outstretched Lucas Nogueira for a reverse layup.

"It's not about my age," Carter told the Commercial Appeal. "It's about me loving the game and competing at a high level. I took the time to understand who I am as a player and what I want to accomplish. I still wanted to play the game and be effective."

The eight-time All-Star had 7 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists in the win. He's averaging 9.2 points and 3.3 rebounds this season. Carter, one of the best dunkers in NBA history, has played for six different teams during his 19-year career. He celebrated his 40th birthday Thursday.
