NEW YORK -- San Antonio Spurs All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard sat out Monday's game against the Brooklyn Nets with a sore left hand.

Leonard was named Western Conference Player of the Week earlier Monday and Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said the injury was sustained earlier on San Antonio's road trip.

Popovich initially said it was "an injury that's not an injury" and also added Leonard does not need any tests or treatment.

Leonard is averaging a career-high 25.5 points per game and has recorded at least 30 points in six straight games, including a career-high 41 in Saturday's 118-115 overtime win against the Cavaliers in Cleveland. Leonard shot 15 of 30 on Saturday and is averaging 34.8 points on 60.2 percent shooting in his last six games.

Monday marked the third game Leonard has missed this season. He also sat from Dec. 28-30 with gastroenteritis.

Besides Leonard, the Spurs were without Manu Ginobilli (back spasms) and Tony Parker (left foot).
