The Winnipeg Jets recalled goaltender Ondrej Pavelec from the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League and retroactively placed defenseman Ben Chiarot on injured reserve with an upper-body injury on Tuesday.
Pavelec, 29, is making his first stint with the Jets this season after spending the previous five seasons with the team. He posted a 2.78 goals against average and a .917 save percentage in 18 games with Manitoba this season.
The Jets (20-23-4) are hoping the veteran netminder will help solve their goaltending woes. Winnipeg has dropped four straight games.
In 371 career games, Pavelec 148-154-47 with a 2.85 GAA and a .907 save percentage. Last season, he was 13-13-4 with a 2.78 GAA and a .904 save mark in 33 games.
Chiarot, 25, totaled six assists in 43 games with the Jets before sustaining the injury.
