Cleveland Cavaliers' Chris Andersen suffers season-ending ACL injury

Cleveland Cavaliers reserve center Chris Andersen suffered a torn ACL Friday that will require season-ending surgery.

Andersen hurt his right knee during practice Friday, and an MRI exam revealed the severity of the injury. The team said his recovery time will be announced following the surgery.

The 6-foot-10 Andersen appeared in 12 games with Cleveland, averaging 2.3 points and 2.6 rebounds. Andersen, 38, is with his fifth NBA team, seeing time with the Miami Heat and Memphis Grizzlies last season.

In his 15th NBA season, Andersen has career averages of 5.4 points and 5.0 rebounds in 695 games.

Andersen had two separate stints spanning seven seasons with the Denver Nuggets and won an NBA championship with the Miami Heat in 2012-13.
