NEW ORLEANS -- Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick Young was carried to the locker room after straining his right Achilles tendon with 10:10 left in the first quarter of the game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night.

He will not return to the game, and the Lakers said Young will undergo an MRI on Wednesday in Chicago, where Los Angeles plays the Bulls.

Young fell to the floor after trying to prevent a breakaway layup by Pelicans guard Tim Frazier, then hobbled to the area in front of the scorer's table. Young lay on his back as a timeout was called and medical personnel attended to him before teammates carried him off.
