LANDOVER, Md., Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Despite growing up in North Carolina and playing the first six years of his NBA career for the Washington Wizards, John Wall wore a Dallas Cowboys jersey Sunday in Landover.

"John Wall was wearing a Emmitt Smith jersey," J.P. Flaim said on CSN Mid-Atlantic. "This is a guy from the Wizards, that calls out the D.C. fans for rooting for other teams and he shows up at FedEx with a Cowboys jersey?"

Wall also threw up "the X" hand signal to Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant before the two had a sideline chat, as noted by Jon Machota. Wall has previously worn Washington jerseys, but the move is peculiar for the guard who is signed through 2018. The 26-year-old had two knee surgeries this offseason.

Wall supports the Cowboys mostly because of his mom's love for the franchise.
"I'm a mama's boy and that's my mama's team," Wall told the Dallas Morning News.
