Kwame Brown eyeing NBA comeback

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Despite nearly a four-year layoff and only averaging more than 10 points per game once in a dozen NBA seasons, Kwame Brown thinks he has the gas a comeback.

Brown was picked No. 1 in the 2001 NBA Draft, above the likes of Tyson Chandler, Pau Gasol, Shane Battier, Joe Johnson, Richard Jefferson, Zach Randolph, and Tony Parker.

Interperformances sports agency announced his signing Monday, saying he wants back in the league.

"Interperformances is proud to announce that the NBA star Kwame Brown decided to sign with our agency," the agency said in a statement. "The #1 overall pick of the 2001 draft is ready for a new life. His comeback can be the road to glory for a team that believes in him. Kwame is back, physically healthy and ready to be the outstanding player he was on several NBA teams."

Brown, 34, averaged 6.6 points and 5.5 rebounds in 22.1 minutes per game while playing for the Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies, Detroit Pistons, Charlotte Bobcats, Golden State Warriors, and Philadelphia 76ers.

According to Basketball Reference, Brown mad more than $63.9 million in salary during his NBA career. He never won a playoff series or went to an All-Star Game.
