SACRAMENTO, July 4 (UPI) -- While brother Stephen sulks in NBA Finals sorrow, Seth Curry will be looking for a new team.

On Sunday, The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Sacramento Kings plan "to rescind the qualifying offer on Seth Curry, allowing [the] guard to become [an] unrestricted free agent."

"The number of Sacramento guards made a return unappealing, and team will allow Curry an easier route as an UFA to finding new team," Wojnarowski tweeted.

The Sacramento Bee also reported the news. Curry signed a two-year contract with the Kings last season, and the team extended that offer Wednesday. The qualifying offer meant the team had a chance to match any off sheets given from other franchises for the guard.

The Kings already own a bounty of guards, making playing time a tough task in Sacramento. Darren Collison and Ben McLemore were vying for court time even before the team agreed to a deal with Arron Afflalo.

Curry, 25, averaged 6.8 points, but shot 45 percent from three-point range last season.

In May, Curry told reporters he wouldn't mind a return to Sacramento.

"I'm curious as to what will happen this summer, I think I've obviously shown that I can help a team win and be consistent player in the NBA," Curry said, according to CSN Bay Area.

"Absolutely," Curry said. "It's a big option. Like I said, I liked my time in Sacramento. I like the community, I like what the organization is trying to do and I think they're going in the right direction. But you never know what's going to happen in free agency."
