Brandon Ingram: Duke draft prospect eating big

By Alex Butler

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., June 10 (UPI) -- Even 6-foot, 10-inch Brandon Ingram sees room for growth.

The former Duke star is preparing for the NBA Draft. Those plans include bulking up his 18-year-old frame.

"Just eat everything I can," Ingram told NBA.com following his workout for the Los Angeles Lakers. "Of course I think (for) my weight, I can eat anything. I don't have a certain diet for myself; just eating anything I can and staying in the weight room as much as possible."

Ingram entered Duke as a lanky 169-pound freshman. He left at 195 pounds.

"I know it's going to be a long process, of course," Ingram told NBA.com. "But at the end of the day, it's basketball. What I've been doing my whole life is trying to score the ball and trying to defend. I know everybody in the NBA developed their body in the summer, so I'll try to do the same thing."

He said he wants to add 10 to 15 pounds each summer. The 2016 NBA Draft is planned for 8 p.m. June 23 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Draft Express says LSU's Ben Simmons will be the top pick in the draft, selected by the Philadelphia 76ers. The website has Ingram slotted at the No. 2 spot by the Lakers.

Ingram averaged 17.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2 assists per game for the Blue Devils. Simmons averaged 19.2 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 4.8 assists for the Tigers, who failed to make the NCAA Tournament.
