LOS ANGELES, April 24 (UPI) -- Kobe Bryant's final season in the NBA was also Byron Scott's final season as Los Angeles Lakers coach.

The Lakers fired Scott Sunday, according to Adrian Wojnarowski. In two seasons, Scott compiled a 38-126 record. The Lakers were 17-65 this season. Scott was fired by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2013.

The 55-year-old played shooting guard for the Lakers from 1983 to 1992. Scott's best season as a coach came in 2007, when the New Orleans Hornets finished 56-26.

His New Jersey Nets teams were eastern conference champions in 2000 and 2001.
