James held a meeting at the Cavaliers hotel, renting out a private room in a Four Seasons in downtown San Francisco, prior to Thursday's Game 1. At the meeting, James gave a speech to his playoff green teammates. In the speech, James warned the Cavaliers of the tough times to come, including "unforeseen trials they would face," according to the Northeast Ohio Media Group.
"His was like, we're here for business and to be prepared," center Tristan Thompson told NEOMG. "All the media attention, all the hoopla stuff is cool and what not, but we're here to take care of business."
After James bled his post-season knowledge, he presented his teammates with Apple watches.
James has a history of unselfishness on the court, already placing No. 4 all-time in career assists during the playoffs, but off the court he has presented teammates with Beats by Dre and Samsung headphones, hooded sweatshirts, book-bags, and more. Before Thursday's game, the meeting/party included catered food, music, and a barber, all courtesy of the King.
And being the King has its perks. When Apple bought Beats Electronics for $3 billion last year, James reeled in a profit of more than $30 million in "cash and stock," according to ESPN. James bought into the company in 2008 by negotiating a deal to promote the headphones.
Last year, James gave his two-time champion Miami Heat teammates customized WWE Heavyweight World Championship belts. James has given headphones in bounties, providing them in the past to the Olympic team, Heat teammates, and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
This is the fifth straight NBA Finals involving James' teams and he appears to be a profit, warning of unforeseen setbacks prior to Kyrie Irving's final's exit. Maybe James & Co. can get defensive dynamo Matthew Dellavedova to use the alarm function on his new watch, so he doesn't miss the team bus and have to take another Uber.
James has averaged 41.5 points, 12 rebounds, and 8.5 assists in two Finals games this season. This postseason, James is averaging 29.3 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 8.3 assists.
