New York Yankees give manager Aaron Boone two-year extension

Feb. 20 (UPI) -- The New York Yankees signed manager Aaron Boone to a two-year contract extension, the team announced Thursday. Boone is now under contract through the 2027 season.

Boone, 51, led the Yankees to a 603-429 record over the last seven years. Boone's Yankees went 22-23 in the postseason during that span, including their 2024 run to the World Series.

He finished second in American League Manager of the Year voting in 2019, when the Yankees went 103-59.

The Yankees held their first full-squad spring training workout Monday in Tampa, Fla. They will host the Tampa Bay Rays in their first spring training game at 1:05 p.m. EDT Friday at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

The Yankees will host the Milwaukee Brewers in their regular-season opener March 27 in New York.
