Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Corbin Burnes' gem and a timely home run by Rowdy Tellez late in the contest helped the Milwaukee Brewers earn a 2-1 win over the Atlanta Braves in Game 1 of their National League Division Series on Friday at American Family Field.
Tellez spoiled Braves starter Charlie Morton's gem with a two-run homer in the seventh inning to clinch the victory. Before that 411-foot drive to deep center field, Tellez was just 1 for 13 against the Braves this season.
"I'm still out of breath," Tellez said. "It was a crazy moment."
Burnes, meanwhile, teamed up with relievers Adrian Houser and Josh Hader on a combined four-hitter in the series-opening win. Burnes, a contender for the NL Cy Young Award, started his outing with two consecutive walks and tossed 40 pitches in the first two innings before settling down.

The right-handed Burnes recorded six strikeouts and gave up two hits and three walks across six innings, throwing 91 pitches. Houser, who was credited with the win, gave up a solo home run to Braves slugger Joc Pederson in the eighth inning for Atlanta's lone run of the contest.
Hader allowed a hit and walked one, but he managed to close out the game for his first save of the postseason.
"They're an aggressive offense," Burnes said. "That was kind of the key tonight was to try to play off of that. We were just trying to do too much early on."
Morton allowed two runs and three hits in six innings. He struck out nine and walked just one in the defeat.
Game 2 of the best-of-five series is scheduled for Saturday in Milwaukee. Left-hander Max Fried is set to take the mound for the Braves, while All-Star right-hander Brandon Woodruff pitches for the Brewers in the second game of the series.
