Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Miami Marlins rookies Edward Cabrera and Jesus Sanchez exited Thursday night's game against the division rival New York Mets due to injuries.

Cabrera, a 23-year-old right-hander, came out of the game at the start of the fourth inning because of a blister on the middle finger of his pitching hand. He allowed two runs and two hits over three innings with six strikeouts and two walks.

Sean Guenther replaced Cabrera with the score tied 2-2 in the fourth.

Sanchez, meanwhile, left in the middle of the third inning because of tightness in his right hamstring, according to the team. The 23-year-old outfielder hit a fly ball to deep left with two outs and jogged to first base while holding his bat and watching the ball, which was caught by Mets left fielder Jeff McNeil.

Bryan De La Cruz replaced Sanchez in right field during the bottom of the third, and the Marlins announced an inning later that Sanchez was forced to exit due to the hamstring ailment.

"It was definitely precautionary," Marlins manager Don Mattingly said of removing Sanchez from the game. "... It didn't seem to be worth pushing him in that game."

Cabrera, who made his MLB debut Aug. 25, has a 0-3 record and 5.81 ERA over seven starts.

Sanchez made his Major League debut in August 2020. He has a .251 batting average with 14 home runs and 36 RBIs in 227 at-bats this season.
