Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Bradley Zimmer said he felt "mixed emotions" from a home run he hit in the Cleveland Indians' latest win. The blast came against his older brother, Kansas City Royals pitcher Kyle Zimmer.
The solo shot came in the eighth inning of an 8-3 win Monday at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
"I'd say it's a mix of emotions," Bradley Zimmer told reporters. "I don't necessarily pride [in] myself just because I hit that off of my brother.
"Hopefully, someday, we'll be on the same team. ... It was fun. It was a little redemption. He got me the first time, so I had to make it even."
The Indians led 6-3 when the younger Zimmer stepped into the box lead off the bottom of the inning. He took a fastball for a ball on the first offering from his right-handed brother.
The Royals relief pitcher then forced a swing and a miss from the Indians right fielder. The younger Zimmer then smacked his brother's 1-1 offering to right field for a 408-foot homer.
The solo shot sailed 106 feet above the field and traveled 107 mph, according to Statcast. Indians second baseman Andres Gimenez plated the game's final run with an RBI sacrifice fly two at-bats later.
Bradley Zimmer went 2 for 4 with three runs scored and an RBI in the win. Kyle Zimmer allowed two hits and two runs in one inning.
Shortstop Amed Rosario led the Indians at the plate. He went 4 for 5 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Center fielder Myles Straw also recorded two hits in the win.
Royals catcher Salvador Perez went 2 for 4 with two RBIs in the loss.
Bradley Zimmer, 28, is hitting .228 with eight home runs and 31 RBIs this season. Kyle Zimmer, 30, is 4-1 with a 5.12 ERA, 44 strikeouts and two saves in 51 innings in 2021.
Kyle struck out and walked his younger brother in their previous two matchups this season.
