Ex-MLB stars Ichiro Suzuki, Mike Cameron play in Mariners' simulated game

March 8 (UPI) -- Former MLB All-Stars Ichiro Suzuki and Mike Cameron recently provided some entertainment for a small crowd of players when they suited up and took live at-bats during a simulated game with the Seattle Mariners in Peoria, Ariz.

Cameron, 48, and Ichiro, 47, stepped into the batter's box and played in the outfield Sunday at the Mariners' spring training complex. A crowd of players and staff gathered and sat in the bleachers to enjoy the action.

Ichiro took his at-bat against Mariners pitcher Marco Gonzalez in the top of the second inning.

The 10-time All-Star and 2001 American League MVP stepped up to the plate wearing his No. 51 jersey. He took a few warm-up swings and then got into his trademark stance.

Ichiro watched the first pitch go by and then smacked the second offering into foul territory. He then took another pitch high and inside. Ichiro hit the fourth offering to left field for a popup out.

"Sac-fly, maybe," Ichiro said as he jogged toward first base.

Cameron struck out in his first at-bat and hit a line out in his second at-bat. The 2001 All-Star spent four of his 17 MLB seasons with the Mariners.
