Toronto Blue Jays to trade Marcus Stroman to New York Mets

July 28 (UPI) -- The Toronto Blue Jays agreed to trade All-Star pitcher Marcus Stroman to the New York Mets on Sunday.

League sources told MLB.com and ESPN that the Mets are sending pitching prospects to the Blue Jays in exchange for Stroman. The deal, which is pending physicals and the transfer of medical information, hasn't been confirmed by the teams.

Mets All-Star pitcher Noah Syndergaard, who is rumored to be traded before the July 31 deadline, wasn't involved in the deal, according to MLB.com.

Stroman has posted a 6-11 record in 21 starts with a 2.96 ERA this season. He was selected to his first All-Star Game in the 2019 campaign.

The right-handed pitcher has the third-lowest home run percentage (1.9 percent) in the American League this season.

Stroman, 28, has a 2.93 career ERA and 11 quality starts in 20 appearances against National League teams. He has never pitched at Citi Field during his MLB career.
