Diamondbacks expected to promote prospect Kevin Cron

May 24 (UPI) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks are expected to promote first base prospect Kevin Cron from Triple-A Reno, according to MLB.com.

Cron, 26, is hitting .339 with 21 home runs and 62 RBIs in 44 games with the Reno Aces this season. Cron has five consecutive seasons with at least 20 home runs.

The Diamondbacks have not officially announced the move.

Kevin's older brother, C.J., is a first baseman with the Minnesota Twins. Their father, Chris Cron, hit .080 in 25 at-bats with the Angels and White Sox from 1991 to 1992. Chris is Kevin's manager with the Aces.

"Hopefully it will come someday when I bring (Kevin) into the office and call him up," Chris Cron said at the beginning of the season, according to tahoeonstage.com. "Just tell him the situation at hand. It's a dream of mine, too. ... When that time comes, I'll be looking forward to it."

Arizona has lost five straight games. The Diamondbacks lost infielder Wilmer Flores to the injured list with a right foot contusion earlier this week. First baseman Jake Lamb, who has been out with a left quad strain, recently suffered a setback.

The Diamondbacks have a 25-25 record this season. Arizona trails the Los Angeles Dodgers by seven games in the NL West Division.
