May 14 (UPI) -- Toronto Blue Jays rookie slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. crushed his first career home run in the MLB on Tuesday night against the San Francisco Giants.
In the top of the first inning, Guerrero smashed a four-seam fastball from Giants pitcher Nick Vincent over the center field wall at Oracle Park. The solo homer gave the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead over San Francisco.
Guerrero's deep ball left the bat at 111 mph and traveled 438 feet. At age 20 years and 59 days, he became the youngest Blue Jays player to ever record a home run. Before Guerrero's bomb, the youngest player to hit a homer in a Blue Jays uniform was current Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge in 1979, according to MLB Stats.
Guerrero entered Tuesday night's contest with a .191 batting average, one RBI and only two extra-base hits, both doubles, in 13 games.
The Blue Jays led the Giants 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning.
