The 33-year-old posted a 3.74 ERA and a 5-2 record in 10 games last season for the Athletics. He began the season with the Detroit Tigers before being traded to the Athletics in August. Fiers posted a 3.48 ERA and a 7-6 mark in 21 games last season for the Tigers prior to the trade.

For his career, Fiers owns a 4.04 ERA and a 54-55 record in 172 appearances. He has also pitched for the Milwaukee Brewers and Houston Astros.

"Right now, the focus from here to Spring Training -- and possibly through Spring Training like last year -- is we're gonna continue to try to find some starters to bring into camp," Athletics executive vice president of baseball operations Billy Beane told MLB.com.

"We like a lot of the club that's on the board right now. We feel very good about the position players. We feel very good about the bullpen. It's all about the starters right now."
