Texas Rangers sign P Lance Lynn for $30M

Dec. 18 (UPI) -- The Texas Rangers have signed right-handed pitcher Lance Lynn.

Texas announced the signing on Tuesday. Sources told MLB.com and The Athletic that the deal is for three years and $30 million. Lynn will receive a $4 million signing bonus, $8 million in 2019, $10 million in 2020 and $8 million in 2021.

Lynn, 31, posted a 4.77 ERA and a 10-10 record in 31 games last season for the Minnesota Twins and New York Yankees.

"You look at the team and there are a lot of up and coming players and there are a lot of guys that have been here and have done a lot in this game that are on the team now," Lynn told reporters. "So to come in and be a part of that. There is a lot going on here that is positive. I just want to come in and hopefully keep pushing it in the right direction."

The 2012 All-Star owns a career 3.57 ERA and an 82-57 record in seven seasons. Lynn began the 2018 season with the Twins before being traded to the Yankees in July. He posted a 3.43 ERA and an 11-8 record during the 2017 season for the St. Louis Cardinals.
