Ex-Indians OF Michael Brantley agrees to $32M deal with Astros

Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Former Cleveland Indians outfielder has agreed to a contract with the Houston Astros.

Sources first told The Athletic that the Astros were "closing in" on a deal with Brantley, expected to be for two years and $32 million. Sources told Yahoo Sports and USA Today that the two parties were in agreement on the contract.

Brantley, 31, posted a .309 batting average with 17 home runs and 76 RBIs in 143 games this season. The three-time All-Star owns a career .295 batting average with 87 home runs in 10 seasons, all with the Indians.

Brantley finished third in the American League MVP race in 2014, hitting .327 with 20 home runs, 97 RBIs and 23 stolen bases. He led baseball with 45 doubles in 2015.
