Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Longtime Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann is returning home.

A source told MLB.com that McCann and the Braves agreed on a contract on Monday. McCann, 34, played the first nine years of his career for the Braves before signing with the New York Yankees in 2013 as a free agent.

He was traded to the Houston Astros in 2016 and became a free agent this offseason. The seven-time All-Star and World Series champion hit .212 last season with seven home runs and 23 RBIs in 63 games for the Astros.

McCann hit .277 with 176 home runs during his long tenure with the Braves. McCann became a free agent after the Astros declined his $15 million option in October.

The Braves has yet to confirm the signing of the Atlanta-area native.
