June 26 (UPI) -- A Kansas City Royals fan caught a baseball in his brand new cup of beer during a game against the Los Angeles Angels.

The fan was walking to his seat after a trip to the concession stand in the fourth inning Monday at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. during the incident.

Angels slugger Albert Pujols was at the plate during the Royals' 2-0 win. Royals starter Brad Keller had a 3-2 count against the future Hall of Famer before he tossed in a sixth offering.

Pujols hacked at the 94.8-mph fastball, sending it into foul territory between home plate and first base. The ball sailed up into the stands before hitting a railing between the stairs leading up to a section of seats.

The ball then rolled down and bounced directly into the man's beer, causing a slight spill. The Royals fan then held up his beer to salute the crowd, who applauded his efforts.

He was holding a plate of food in his left hand while making the play. The man walked back to his seat with the ball in his beer before sitting back down to enjoy his refreshments.

Pujols took Keller's seventh offering of the exchange for a ball, resulting in a free pass to first base. The first baseman went 1-for-3 in the loss.
