Goose invades field at Tigers game, flies into LED board

May 31 (UPI) -- A goose found its way onto the field during a Los Angeles Angels and Detroit Tigers game at Comerica Park in Detroit.

And it was a literal wild goose chase.

The flying visitor flew in during the top of the sixth inning with the Angels and Tigers tied at 1-1 on Wednesday night.

It landed in the dirt between second and third base, before waddling closer to second. It then looked like it was doubling back to first base, before going outside the base path and making a break toward right field.

Members of the Tigers grounds crew pursued the goose as it darted toward the outfield and made another landing. But the goose kept its little feet moving and its wings flapping as it continued to evade the grounds crew. It eventually flew into an LED board and fell down into the seats.

A fan eventually picked up the bird and walked it to safety. The Tigers announced that the goose is healthy and was released outside of the ballpark.

Neither team has made an announcement regarding the bird moving to the disabled list.

The goose did spark a rally from the home team. Detroit posted five runs in the bottom of the sixth frame and eventually won the game 6-1. Nick Castellanos led the Tigers at the plate, going 3-for-5 with an RBI.
