Didi Gregorious and Aaron Hicks made outs to start the bottom of the tenth frame, with the game tied at 5-5. Miguel Andujar laced a two-out double to left field before Torres stepped up to the plate to face Astros reliever Brad Peacock.

The righty worked a 2-2 count against the second baseman before tossing in a 95.2-mph fastball for his sixth offering of the exchange. Torres ripped a single to right field, plating Andujar from second base for the game-winning run.

"It feels good when I help the team," Torres told the YES Network after the game. "When I get an opportunity I just try to do my job and be simple."

The Astros built a 5-2 lead entering the bottom of the fifth frame. Aaron Judge then hit a home run off Charlie Morton to cut into the deficit.

Andujar got on base again, starting the ninth inning with a walk. Torres followed by striking out swinging before Gardner walked up to the plate. Gardner tied the game with a two-run homer to right center field.

Yankees flamethrower Aroldis Chapman got out of the top of the tenth frame without allowing the run, setting the table for Torres' walk-off single.

"You can feel [Torres] really just kinda slow it down and control the moment," Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. "And that's something that stood out to me about him since he's got here really."

Torres went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two strikeouts in the win. He is now hitting .321 on the season. Gardner went 4-for-5 with two home runs, three RBIs, two runs scored and a strikeout for the Yankees.
