Aaron Judge clears Yankees bullpen with 422-foot bomb

May 27 (UPI) -- New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge displayed his might recently, hitting a 422-foot home run over his team's bullpen.

Judge swatted the long ball in the Yankees' 11-4 loss to the Los Angeles Angels Saturday at Yankee Stadium in New York. The Yankees trailed 1-0 entering the bottom of the first frame.

Brett Gardner led off the game by taking Angels starter Jaime Barria deep on a 1-0 four-seam fastball. Then Judge walked to the plate. Barria worked a 1-1 count against the slugger before winding up for a third offering. Barria tossed in a 93.6-mph fastball. Judge turned on the pitch and clobbered it very deep to right center field.

Angels centerfielder Mike Trout gave chase at first, but eventually just stood and watched as the ball easily cleared the outfield fence and eventually the Yankees' bullpen.

Judge's bomb had a launch angle of 23 degrees and left his bat at 112.5-mph, according to Statcast. The back-to-back missile gave the Pinstripes a 2-0 edge.

The Yankees increased their lead on a two-run homer from Austin Romine in the next inning. The Angels plated two runs in the third frame and two more runs in the fourth frame to take control of the bout. The Yankees did not score after the second inning.

Judge finished his night 2-for-2, with an RBI, a run scored and two walks. Trout went 5-for-5, with four RBIs and three runs scored. Trout hit three doubles and hit a home run in the victory.

The Yankees outfielder is hitting .287 with 14 home runs and 39 RBIs this season. Saturday's bomb made him the fastest player in Major League Baseball history to hit 70 home runs.
