May 24 (UPI) -- Bartolo Colon's Texas Rangers teammates had something special planned for his 45th birthday: they shoved his face in a cake.

Rangers players surrounded "Big Sexy" in the clubhouse before battling the Kansas City Royals Thursday at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas. First, he was serenaded by one of his teammates who sang the special song for the occasion.

Colon then dipped his finger into the icing on the two-tiered dessert before allowing his teammates to put their hands on his head. They then pushed him face-first into the birthday treat and rubbed his nose in it.

Rangers outfielder Delino DeShields posted a video of the performance on his Instagram account. "Happy Birthday Big Sexy," DeShields wrote on the post.

The veteran righty allowed six runs and eight hits in 5.1 innings in a 10-5 loss to the New York Yankees on Monday. He allowed just four hits in 7.2 shutout innings in his last win, which came on May 16 against the Seattle Mariners.

Colon has a 2-2 record and a 3.51 ERA in 10 games this season. The four-time All-Star and former Cy Young Award winner is in his 22nd season and playing for his 11th team.

He is expected to make his next start for the Rangers against the Royals at 4:05 p.m. Saturday in Arlington.
