Dodgers' Puig continues hot streak, hits 434-foot homer vs. Marlins

May 17 (UPI) -- Yasiel Puig continued his hot streak, hitting a 434-foot bomb in the Los Angeles Dodgers' 7-0 win against the Miami Marlins Thursday at Marlins Park.

Puig went deep in the top of the fourth inning. The Dodgers had a 4-0 lead at the time. He stepped up to the plate to face Marlins reliever Junichi Tazawa. The righty tossed in an 85.7-mph forkball and Puig quickly turned on the offering. He connected, belting the ball over the Clevelander bar in left field.

The bomb left the field at 110.4-mph and at a launch angle of 20 degrees, according to Statcast. Puig now has three home runs in his last four games.

The Dodgers got two more runs on an RBI double from Justin Turner later in the inning, pushing the lead to 7-0. Puig went 2-for-3, with two walks and a strikeout in the win.

The Marlins won the three game series 2-1. Los Angeles travels for a 7:05 p.m. matchup Friday against the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. Miami battles the Atlanta Braves at 7:35 p.m. Friday at SunTrust Park in Atlanta, Ga.

Puig is now hitting .214 with three home runs and 10 RBIs in 31 games this season for the Dodgers.
