Nats' Bryce Harper nearly hits truck with deep homer

May 14 (UPI) -- Washington Nationals All-Star slugger Bryce Harper nearly hit a Dodge Ram with a deep home run agains the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Don't worry, the truck wasn't driving down the street.

Harper crushed the solo shot in the third inning of the Nationals' 6-4 win against the Arizona Diamondbacks Sunday at Chase Field in Phoenix, Ariz. The Nationals led 1-0 before the homer.

Washington's star player walked up to the plate to face Diamondbacks starter Zack Godley. The 6-foot-3 righty threw three consecutive balls to Harper, before tossing in a 90.1 mph sinker.

Harper quickly turned on the pitch, which came in just above the center of the strike zone. His hack resulted in the ball flying all the way up the first section of stands in right field, just below a platform holding up the truck.

The 449-foot dinger left the park at 115.1 mph at a 25 degree launch angle, according to Statcast.

Harper went 1-for-5 on the day. He also had two strikeouts. The right fielder is hitting .236 this season with 13 home runs and 30 RBIs for the Nationals, who sit at third place in the National League East. Washington has won 13 of its last 15 games.

Mark Reynolds went 3-for-4, mashing two home runs and plating three RBIs in Sunday's triumph.
