Hunter Pence tries to recruit Giancarlo Stanton to San Francisco Giants

Dec. 6 (UPI) -- The Giancarlo Stanton recruiting movement is getting real in San Francisco.

San Francisco Giants star Hunter Pence recently joined the party trying to bring the Miami Marlins outfielder to the Bay Area. He did so with a tweet on Tuesday.

"Hey @Giancarlo818, can you imagine our Powers combined?!? #ComeBashInTheBay," Pence tweeted.

The All-Star outfielder included a photo of himself wearing a Napoleon Dynamite costume and Stanton wearing a Popeye costume, while holding a can of spinach.

Earlier this week, sources told MLB.com that the Marlins had "agreed to general framework" of Stanton trades to the Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Cardinals outfielder Dexter Fowler reminded Pence that his team is still in the race. He put in a subtle dig at the Giants outfielder, for good measure.

"Ay man @hunterpence , not sure that's good job security for you #comeflexwithdex," Fowler tweeted.

Sources from the Cardinals and Giants told USA Today that there has been no timetable set for the slugger to make a decision on choosing his next team.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are also considered a dark horse to land the slugger. Sources familiar with the situation told FanRag Sports that a mega-deal isn't likely, but it isn't impossible.

Stanton is from the Los Angeles Valley and lives in the Hollywood Hills. The 28-year-old 2017 National League MVP made $14.5 million in 2017 with the Marlins. His salary jumps to $25 million in 2018 and escalates to $32 million annually from 2023 through 2025.
