Justin Verlander: World Series champ, newlywed debuts new 2017 Ford GT

Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander made several social media posts Tuesday, showing off his brand new $450K sports car.

Verlander purchased a 2017 Ford GT.

"It's heeeeeeere!!!" Verlander wrote on an Instagram caption. "#fordgt #1of1 #liquidiceblue @ford @fordperformance."

The car looks silver in the posts, but Verlander refers to the color as liquid ice blue. It also features white racing stripers and a spolier.

"There she is," Verlander said in an Instagram video, while walking around and filming his new toy. "Brand new 2017 Ford GT.

Several celebrities commented on Verlander's post.

Houston Texans star J.J. Watt said: "Might have to squeeze me in and pry me out afterwards, but I'm in."

"Nasty," Verlander's former teammate J.D. Martinez posted.

Verlander is an admitted 'car guy.' His Instagram also includes shots of other rides, including a red Ferrari 488, a blue Audi R8, a silver Aston Martin and more.

Verlander's personal garage has included a Lamborghini Aventador Roadster, a Ferrari 458 Italia, Ferrari California, Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Black Series, Mercedes Benz SL55, Mercedes Benz SLS AMG, Maserati Gran Turismo and Aston Martin DBS, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The former Cy Young Award winner and MVP married super model Kate Upton in early November after winning his first World Series with the Astros. Verlander, 34, made $28 million last season with the Astros. He is due another $28 million in 2018 and 2019.
