Nov. 20 (UPI) -- All-Star third baseman Kris Bryant recently sported lederhosen during his honeymoon in Salzburg, Austria.
Bryant, 25, married wife Jessica Delp in January in Las Vegas. They were engaged for a year and dated for eight years. They had an engagement photo shoot at Wrigley Field.
Their recent trip to Austria included a castle visit and mingling with locals, discussing baseball. Bryant performed the stunt for Red Bull, one of his sponsors.
"Baseball is really exciting in Chicago right now," Bryant said. "So we are going to see if it has spread to this side of the world.
Bryant asked the locals if they have ever seen a baseball game before. He asked the questions in Old Town, just outside the birthplace of Mozart. Many of them had not seen the sport live, while others had watched it sparingly.
He then interviewed people, asking if they knew who Kris Bryant is. Most of them had no idea they were talking to the 2015 National League Rookie of the Year and 2016 MVP.
He also asked a pigeon the same questions. It was speechless.
Bryant then played a game of catch, before wandering aimlessly asking others about his favorite sport.
"No one really recognized me," Bryant said. "It was nice to get away and experience a different culture."
"I felt like I was back in time in the shorts, long socks, hats...it was fun. If I can convince my teammates, maybe we'll wear the outfits for a road trip next season."
Bryant hit a career-best .295 last season, while swatting 29 home runs and bringing in 73 RBI for the Cubs. He is eligible for arbitration from 2018 through 2021 before hitting free agency in 2022.
