The Cleveland Indians activated All-Star left-handed reliever Andrew Miller off the disabled list Thursday, hours before looking to extend their American League-record winning streak to 22 games.

Miller last pitched on Aug. 21 due to tendinitis in his right knee. Cleveland began its epic winning streak two days later.

The 32-year-old Miller will be eased back into action before regaining his late-inning role. He is 4-3 with a 1.65 ERA in 48 games this season.

Miller had a superb postseason last year when the Indians reached the World Series before falling to the Chicago Cubs. He recorded a 1.40 ERA and struck out 30 in 19 1/3 postseason innings.

Cleveland hosts the Kansas City Royals on Thursday night.
