PHILADELPHIA -- Atlanta Braves second baseman Brandon Phillips became the 12th active member of the 2,000-hit club with an RBI single in the first inning of a doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday afternoon.
Phillips is the 286th player all-time to reach the milestone and the second current active member of the Braves to get there. Nick Markakis collected his 2,000th hit back on Aug. 4, accomplishing the feat in just his 12th major league season.
